Tropes, 2004–now, b/w prints, sizes can vary

Carrying unknown spaces with you is something I found out about my own diasporic identity. Transgenerationally concealed spaces can be played into the present. Especially since the war in Ukraine, many communities in exile have been dealing with traumas; these are strongly linked to the places of origin and the material environment. The geographical and cultural axis between (South) East and West is not only historically interwoven; it is visually marked in places and is carried on by generations after the great empires and wars. Tropes deal with spaces of uncanniness, the known and familiar as well as the dirt of collapsed infrastructures.
